About The Foundation
The Players Foundation fosters understanding and appreciation of American theatre through education and conservation activities. Our remarkable collection of theatre-related artwork, books, costumes, and correspondence, as well as artifacts from the life and career of legendary nineteenth century actor Edwin Booth, is available to scholars and researchers. The Players Foundation is housed at The Players, the New York City social club founded by Booth in 1888.

Education
The Players Foundation is committed to fostering education and research in the arts, particularly in theatre and performance, through lectures, workshops, access to our collections, and support for emerging artists and scholars.

Conservation
A significant part of The Foundation’s mission is the preservation of the rich history of The Players archives and the permanent collection of art, stage memorabilia, and the library, which ensures that these valuable resources are available for future generations.

Booth’s Legacy
Central to The Players is a celebration of Edwin Booth’s legacy, which encompasses his contributions to the theatre as well as his personal library and the landmark home he acquired and established as a clubhouse at the founding of The Players.
